The Register reports that The BBC are planning to release their New windows only On- Demand service on the 27th July, this was announced by The Broadcaster today.
It now may be a possiblility that beta could end as soon as the November launch the BBC has hinted, but when the iplayer was being developed it had been beset mostly by delays and strategy ever since it was announced almost three years ago.

BBC Vision director Jana Bennett touched on the issue in today’s announcement: “We are committed to making it as easy as possible to use BBC iPlayer. Developing a version for Apple Macs and Microsoft Vista is absolutely on our critical path.”The iplayer lets the user stream programmes for up to 7 days after the official broadcast also you can download them but there is a limit of 30 days to view it in. Also The BBC reports that they are in discussion with some major companies which include the likes of MSN, Yahoo and Myspace. The service is based on the same P2p technology that is used by Channel 4’s On demand Service, there have also been talks withwhich to unite the two services together But possibly you cannot view this outside the uk after IP mapping which is included with the package.
